The Smart Feed is powered by a wall adaptor with an optional battery backup (batteries not included) and works with iPhone and iPod devices iOS 9 or later and most Android smartphones 5.0 or later.

If there's a wi-fi outage (not a power outage), will the feeder continue to work and dispense food?
A Wi-Fi outage will prevent you from accessing the feeder from your cellular device however any pre-set feeding times will continue to process as scheduled as long as an electrical source, or batteries, are in place.
If the unit loses power, when it regains power does it automatically connect back to my WiFi or do I have to reconnect?
This feeder will automatically reconnect to WiFi in the event of a power outage or WiFi outage.
Does this only work for a 24 hour period?? I am going out of town for 5 days, can it go that long?
The PetSafe Smart Feeder allows you to program up to 12 meals. Meals can be dispensed from 1/8 cups to 4 cups to fit your pet's feeding needs.
Can I set up multiple feeders? I'm planning on getting two of these.
Yes, the App is able to differentiate between feeders so, multiple feeders may be used.
If there is food in the dish from a previous feeding, will it skip the feeding time?
This automatic feeder will not skip a meal if there's food in the bowl.
Can the app notify me if the feeder is jammed?
The app will notify when it is opened if the feeder is jammed via an error message but currently the app does not support this feature via push notifications.
Does the feeder seal to prevent bugs from getting into the large food holder?
This product is not vacuum-sealed.
Are all components BPA free?
Yes, all components of the Smart Feed are BPA free and food grade.
How far away can I be and still access the feeder?
The app can be accessed from anywhere as long as the feeder is still connected to the WiFi and if you have an internet connection of some sort available.
Does this feeder notify you on the phone when the dish is empty?
The PetSafe Smart feeder will not notify you once the bowl is empty.
