- Tunnel Length: The wall model comes with a standard 10" tunnel which will fit walls between 2" and 10" in thickness. We also offer an optional oversized 16" tunnel for deeper walls.

How to Measure Your Pet
There are three measurements to take into consideration when choosing the correct size door for your pet, the following guidelines will help you get accurate measurements. If you get stuck or need any help please contact us, our experts are ready to help.
#1 - Measure Width – Simply measure your pet at the widest point and add an inch or two for safety. If your pet is long-haired, don’t forget that this may make them appear wider than they really are. Alternately, you can open a door just wide enough for your pet to pass through and measure the width of the opening, again adding an inch or two for safety.
#2 - Measure Height – The pet door flaps should be at least an inch or two above the top of your pet’s back not the head. To get this length, measure your pet from the withers (top of the shoulders) to the floor. Remember that your door won’t be placed completely at floor level.
#3 - Measure Rise – This measurement is only applicable for panel models which come with the rise built-in. Door, wall, screen, and window models can be mounted at whatever height is comfortable for your pet. If you have a short-legged dog or an older dog that can’t lift his feet very high, or if the door is installed with a step on either side, consider ordering a “no rise” door. Our standard rise is 5” or 10”.
Alternate method: You can also make a sample door opening out of a large piece of cardboard based on the above size chart. Place it in a door opening and experiment with height placement. Order the size most comfortable for your pet.

Other Considerations for Choosing the Correct Door Size
Older pets don’t like to use pet doors that are uncomfortable. Make sure you get a door that your pet will always be able to use. If you currently have a kitten or puppy, remember that they will grow.
Mount the pet door so that it is low enough for your pet to comfortably step over. Young pets can raise their legs up to their chest but older pets may have trouble with this.
Make sure the pet door is tall enough for your pet. Hunching over can be hard on your pet’s hips, especially as they age. And the flaps on your door will last longer if your pet isn’t rubbing against the top of the door as he passes through.
If you have more than one pet, make sure you get a door that will work for all of them: low enough for the shortest one to step over but tall enough for the tallest one to fit through comfortably.
Don’t forget that your pet needs access from both sides of your pet door. If you are installing the door in an area that has steps outside, please take into consideration how your pet will have to get through the door. This is especially true of our panel models. They have a standard rise of 5” but can be ordered with no rise (actually about 1” of frame to step over) instead to make it easier for your pet.

Easy Installation Overview
The Hale Pet Wall Mounted Door is the top-selling door from Hale Pet Doors. It's one of the easiest doors to install and is designed to fit almost any wall type. Hale wall doors are designed to be installed through most any type of wall using a few household tools.
- Cut an opening in your wall to the size of your new pet door.
- Cut the tunnel to the wall thickness, slip the outside frame into the tunnel and attach with provided screws (a 10-inch tunnel comes standard with all Hale wall mount pet doors, which works for any house wall between 2 and 10 inches thick. An oversize option is available for walls up to 16 inches thick).
- Under each tunnel, install the provided flashing which diverts any water that may find its way through the tunnel.
- Glue down the provided mildew and mold resistant olefin carpet to the bottom and sides of the tunnel. This carpet prevents the tunnel from getting too hot or too cold for your pet to walk on and helps prevent additional heat or light from entering your home. The carpet also keeps your home cleaner by wiping the dog's paws as he/she walks through the tunnel. The carpet can be easily cleaned with a vacuum hose attachment or spot cleaner using any household cleaner.

We have built 3 homes and installed the Hale pet doors in all 3 of them - we believe in the quality of these doors that much! We replaced the carpet in one of them after some weather and wear but otherwise they have endured the sun exposure in Arizona! I’m sure replacing the flaps if we were living in a home that long would be as easy as pie. Don’t hesitate to pay extra for this product!
This was a very excellent product. Though there was not an actual installation process I still manage to install it using some video installation through YouTube. The install took a while but it does need planning before you install. So be sure to take into account the exterior products for this install (hardi siding, vinyl, brick veneer, etc.) also make sure you take apart the aluminum side to cut it to the width, it is match easier( it is 10 inches for the different depth of the wall). Plan plan plan.
We got this to replace a 2 year old electronic door from a different brand that had plastic tunnel and external molding that yellowed and warped terribly. The motor was also a pretty annoying sound. We're still working with our pets on getting used to the magnets but they're getting it.
Well made, great materials and easy to install
I was impressed with the quality, the details are well-thought out. The instructions are very detailed. Our 2 year-old Petsafe door flaps were warping, even when new, they did not seal well. With our cold Colorado winters, it was like having a window open all the time. This door is sealed! Very smart design, wasn't brought to market to sell a door, it was brought to market to fufill a need. As a bonus, the frame is metal and my GSP isn't going to chew through it!
